Hortêncio Langa, an icon of Mozambican music, died this Monday morning in the city of Maputo.
The renowned singer and songwriter was admitted to the hospital in polana caniço, where he was dealing with a serious lung infection caused by the new coronavirus.
With the loss of the 70-year-old musician, Mozambican music is in mourning, and this is a loss that leaves a huge void in Mozambican culture and society in general.
Hortêncio Langa was born on March 23, 1951 in Manjacaze, Gaza province, and started to show his talent at the age of 4. He started playing the harmonica and his first recordings were with his friends standing out, Muhive as one of his first songs.
