The former Liverpool striker, Peter Crouch, criticized the performance of the current first-team soccer duo, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, after yesterday’s loss to Atalanta in the Champions League.
Liverpool fell to its Italian rival 2-0 at home, “Anfield” in the fourth round of the group stage of the continental competition, but this result did not affect the Reds’ lead in Group D with 9 points, two points behind Ajax and Atalanta.
Crouch believes that Liverpool has lacked his attacking strength and the determination of his players to win, which is the reason that led to their first loss in the Champions League this season.
Peter put his point of view in his interview on the British “BTS Sport” network, and said: “There was no insistence from the players, the level of Liverpool was very low.”
He continued: “If you look at Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, they were not in the match at all, and from here Liverpool may have lost their luster.” (Learn about Mohamed Salah’s assessment against Atalanta)
“We have to take credit for that to the Atalanta players who managed to prevent their danger at their own goal,” he added.
He concluded: “In my opinion, Alejandro Gomez and Josep Ilicic were the best players on the field.”
