The so-called «cloud seeding», or cloud seeding, is a technique that allows to increase the quantity and control the type of precipitation through the use of particular chemical agents that interact with the clouds. Heavy rains fell on Wednesday and Thursday in several regions of the UAE, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, which had been in the midst of a heat wave with temperatures of up to 50 degrees for several days. The UAE National Meteorological Center told the Gulf News portal that cloud seeding operations were carried out to increase rainfall. Last spring, the country tested the use of drones to induce rain by applying electric shocks to clouds without the use of chemicals.
