Kate Beckinsale, 47, has NEVER had cosmetic surgery and hopes she ends up looking like her mother

Kate Beckinsale has revealed she has never had any cosmetic surgery because she is fearful that something might go wrong.

The 47-year-old actress was speaking during a new interview – admitting also that she isn’t completely against having work, despite her fears.

She told The Sunday Times that she knows that her mother’s voice would pop up in her head if it went wrong and tell her she ‘told her so’ – and admitted she gets frustrated with the resounding assumption that she has gone under the knife thanks to her ageless appearance.

‘I’m frightened of paralysing my face!’ Kate Beckinsale, 47, has revealed she has NEVER had cosmetic surgery and hopes that she ends up looking like her mother, 74, who is ‘f**king radiant’

She told the publication: ‘I haven’t had any [cosmetic work]! I’m not against people having it. [But] I do get p**sed off. It’s sort of a given that I’ve had it, which I just literally haven’t.

‘I’m frightened of paralysing my face. My mum’s voice is in my head, very loud, at all times. My mum wouldn’t even get a facial, she is suspicious of anything like that, and looks f**king radiant and amazing.

‘I know if I did do Botox, I’d be the one that would get the droopy eye, and my mum would go, “I f**king told you! See? You should never do that”.’

Kate’s mother is 74-year-old actress Judy Loe, the widow of Kate’s father, Rising Damp star Richard Beckinsale, who died in 1979 of a heart attack aged just 31.

When asked about whether the ageing process ever crosses her mind, Kate said she isn’t worried, as her family all seem to look younger than they are.

Kate added that because her father died so young, she came to realise that people can pass on at any age and so realised she shouldn’t put so much pressure on her age.

However, she also admitted that she does work out five to six times a week to maintain her physique.

Elsewhere in the interview, Kate revealed that she has stopped caring about what other people in the film industry think about the way she looks.

Kate said: 'I know if I did do Botox, I'd be the one that would get the droopy eye, and my mum would go, "I f*****g told you! See? You should never do that!"'

She admitted that, as a fledgling actress, if people perceive you to be attractive then it can act as a stepping stone; but she quickly added that professional actresses need to be able to make their selling point more than just their looks otherwise they get put into a box.

Kate also said she laments the constant demand placed on women’s appearances, as it leaves many people wondering where the ‘sweet spot’ is.

She concluded that the best way to approach the subject is to accept yourself for who you are and forget about what other people think.

During the interview, Kate also touched upon her active approach to her Instagram account.

And as recently as Friday, she got very cosy with her dogs in some sweet beach snapshots posted on the image-sharing platform.

Caleb Landry Jones cuts a striking figure in a red pinstripe suit at the Nitram photocall at Cannes

He is best known for his roles in critically acclaimed movies such as The Florida Project, Get Out and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

And Caleb Landry Jones was very much the leading man on Saturday as he cut a striking figure while attending the Nitram photocall at the Cannes Film Festival.

The American actor, 31, stood out in a red and white pinstripe suit as he posed alongside the film’s director and producer.

The film Nitram is centred on the life of Port Arthur mass murderer Martin Bryant, with the title being Martin’s named spelt backwards.

Caleb plays the role of the lone gunman responsible for Australia’s worst massacre on April 28, 1996, which took the lives of 35 innocent adults and children.

Due to the sensitive subject nature of the movie, producers chose to film in Victoria instead of Tasmania where the tragedy occurred, the Sydney Morning Herald reported at the time of production in November.

The film will not depict the killings, but will instead focus on Bryant’s life before his murderous rampage in an attempt to understand how the atrocity occurred.

The publication also reported that the film will not name Byrant, and will also assign fictional names to other key characters.

Australian stars Judy Davis, 66, and Anthony LaPaglia, 62, took on the role of Bryant’s parents.

Actress Essie Davis, 51, portrayed Tattersalls lottery heiress Helen Harvey, who was a companion of Martin’s.

The Port Arthur massacre is known as one of Australia’s darkest days.

Bryant’s rampage started when he drove to the Seascape Guesthouse in Tasmania, where he murdered owners David and Sally Martin with a military-style semi-automatic rifle.

He then headed to the Port Arthur historic site where he had lunch before opening fire on guests in the Broad Arrow cafe, gift shop and carpark.

His trail of destruction took the lives of 35 adults and children, injuring another 23, and prompted historic gun control legislation under the John Howard government.

Bryant pleaded guilty to 72 charges including murder, attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm and arson.

On November 22, 1996, more than seven months after the massacre, Tasmanian Supreme Court Chief Justice William Cox ordered Bryant serve 35 life sentences without parole.

Bryant has never offered an explanation for his actions. Still, there is speculation, including from investigators, that his murders were sparked out of retribution for grievances and others were collateral damage. He will die at Hobart’s Risdon Prison.

Courtney Stodden responds to Chrissy Teigen’s ‘cancel club’ post by urging people to ‘just be nice’

Courtney Stodden responds to Chrissy Teigen’s post about ‘cancel club’ by urging people to ‘just be nice’ … following bitter online bullying battle

Courtney Stodden has urged people to ‘just be nice’ after Chrissy Teigen admitted she feels ‘lost’ in a social media post about being canceled.

The model, 26, who identifies as non-binary, has taken to TikTok to share their thoughts on Chrissy’s post, as they shared a video of themselves superimposed in front of a screenshot of Teigen’s Instagram account.

Previously, the Lip Sync Battle star apologized for being a ‘troll’ following bullying accusations from Courtney – who claimed the 35-year-old beauty used to message them to tell them to take their own life.

Taking aim: Courtney Stodden has urged people to ‘just be nice’ in a TikTok post in response to Chrissy Teigen admitting she feels ‘lost’ in a social media post about being canceled

Chrissy admitted she felt ‘lost’ and ‘depressed’ after becoming a part of ‘cancel club’ in a lengthy Instagram post this week.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘Iiiii don’t really know what to say here…just feels so weird to pretend nothing happened in this online world but feel like utter s*** in real life.

‘Going outside sucks and doesn’t feel right, being at home alone with my mind makes my depressed head race. But I do know that however I’m handling this now isn’t the right answer.

‘I feel lost and need to find my place again, I need to snap out of this, I desperately wanna communicate with you guys instead of pretending everything is okay. I’m not used to any other way!’

Coming home to roost: Courtney's 'be nice' response came after Chrissy shared a lengthy message on Instagram about struggling to be apart of 'cancel club' following her bullying scandal

Coming home to roost: Courtney’s ‘be nice’ response came after Chrissy shared a lengthy message on Instagram about struggling to be apart of ‘cancel club’ following her bullying scandal

Courtney took a screen shot of the Instagram message – which included a photo of Teigen’s legs lounging on the couch in ripped jeans – and shared it to TikTok with the words ‘just be nice.’

The bullying scandal has seen Chrissy step back from her and Kris Jenner’s cleaning supplies company, Safely, as well as face other repercussions and she admitted being a part of ‘cancel club’ has been a learning experience, though it also ‘sucks’.

She continued in her post: ‘Cancel club is a fascinating thing and I have learned a whollllle lot. Only a few understand it and it’s impossible to know til you’re in it.

‘Cancel club is a fascinating thing and I have learned a whollllle lot. Only a few understand it and it’s impossible to know til you’re in it.’

‘And it’s hard to talk about it in that sense because obviously you sound whiney when you’ve clearly done something wrong. It just sucks. There is no winning. But there never is here anyhow.(sic)’

Teigen was not the only one guilty of bullying Stodden over the years on social media.

American Pie actor Jason Biggs sent Courtney a message of apology over some mean tweets aimed at them from his past.

Jason, 43, took to Twitter to send a message to the model in which he said sorry for making jokes at her expense in the past and insisted he is now ‘living a clean and sober life to make good and healthy decisions’.

In sharing their message from Jason, Courtney indirectly cast the spotlight on Chrissy, who Stodden implied they have not received a personal apology from, for nasty social media comments Teigen wrote a decade back.

They penned: ‘This is what a personal apology looks like. Everyone makes mistakes but not everyone takes real accountability. Jason, I felt this. I wish you love and immense success to you and your family @JasonBiggs.’

Despite Chrissy’s bid to reconcile with Courtney and rehabilitate her image, on Thursday, Courtney simply penned: ‘This is what a personal apology looks like’ in an apparent swipe at the model for her own apology.’

Teigen has publicly apologized for her treatment of Stodden and has said she would privately apologize, however, according to Courtney it has yet to happen.

Subtle: Courtney made a veiled dig at Chrissy by re-sharing Biggs' mea culpa by noting that is 'what a personal apology looks like' after Teigen allegedly failed to say she was sorry privately to Stodden

While Kat has been wearing her hair straight in Cannes, she said earlier this year that she has ‘finally learned to accept’ her natural curly tresses.

‘I’ve really learned to accept my curls, my ‘fro and my African roots,’ she told Du Jour magazine.

She explained that as a child, her white mother didn’t know how to handle her textured hair and recalled being dropped off alone to a black-run hair salon by her desperate mother when she was only six.

The beauty shop visits left a lasting impression on the actress, who felt ‘rejected’ in a way.

‘My mum would just drop me off at the salon. Emotionally, it felt like I was being rejected because my parent couldn’t really handle it,’ she explained.

She began to value more ‘manageable’ locks, associating them with success in her personal and professional life. But now she’s come to embrace her natural beauty.

‘Whether you’re black or not, we all struggle with self-acceptance,’ she said, ‘and we all have our own individual journeys.’

Memoria is the actress’ first project with Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul, who is a previous recipient of the festival’s prestigious Palme d’Or.

The internationally co-produced drama film tells the story of a Scottish woman (Tilda) who begins to experience a bizarre sensory syndrome while she’s travelling through the Colombian jungles.

Apichatpong told La Tempestad last year: ‘I wrote this movie with [Tilda Swinton] in mind knowing that she is an actress who needs no explanation.

‘In fact, it was she who showed me this character. The experience was very significant and I really appreciate that.’

Rapper Iggy Azalea announces she is QUITTING music ‘for a few years’

Rapper Iggy Azalea announces she is QUITTING music ‘for a few years’ after being accused of blackfishing in her latest music video

Iggy Azalea is taking a step back from music to focus on ‘other creative projects’.

The 31-year-old rapper, best known for her 2014 hit Fancy, announced on Thursday that her third studio album, End of an Era, will be her last for at least ‘a few years’.

Azalea tweeted: ‘End of an Era is so special to me because after I drop my album next month I am going to take a few years to focus on other creative projects and things I’m feeling passionate and inspired by, beyond music.’

Moving on: Iggy Azalea is taking a step back from music to focus on ‘other creative projects’

‘I’m excited for you guys to see different sides to me in the future. Shifting my energy and focus to what I’m most excited about is what is right for me and I hope you’ll continue to support whatever creative projects I’m out here doing!’ she added.

‘I really love this album and I just want my fans to enjoy this with me. I hope I see so many of you on tour!’

Azalea later tweeted in response to a fan: ‘Yes! I have the coolest project dropping the week after my album and I can’t wait til you guys see it!’

While it’s unclear what other creative projects Azalea is working on, she has experience as a judge on TV shows like The X Factor so may go down that path.

Azalea hails from Mullumbimby, New South Wales, and moved to the United States at the age of 16 to pursue a music career.

Despite her Australian background, she adopts a Southern drawl in her music.

She was initially mentored by rapper T.I., who released her mixtape Ignorant Art in 2011, and went on to achieve mainstream success with her 2014 single Fancy.

Sadly she hasn’t been able to replicate this success, and her subsequent singles, albums and EPs have flopped in the charts.

The hip-hop artist was recently accused of darkening her skin to appear black or mixed-race – a practice known as blackfishing – in the music video for her song I Am the Stripclub.

However, she denied trying to alter her appearance in this way, calling the claims ‘ridiculous’ and saying she’s used the ‘same shade’ of makeup for the last three years.

Outside of her music, she is known for her feud with similarly named rapper Azealia Banks, who in 2014 called her ‘Igloo Australia’ and accused her of not caring about ‘black issues’ despite capitalising off black culture.

Sarah Jessica Parker rocks silver locks as she arrives to the set of Sex And The City reboot

She’s been busy shooting the upcoming Sex And The City revival And Just Like That.

And Sarah Jessica Parker was hard at work once again when she headed back to set on location in NYC on Thursday.

Though she’d been turning heads in Carrie Bradshaw costumes earlier in the week, the actress, 56, embraced a much more casual look before that day’s shoot.

And going for a natural look, Parker rocked silver roots in her hair.

SJP rocked a chic white summer dress and a cozy heather grey zip-up with ivory Mary-Jane heels.

Tuning out the city sounds, the wife of Matthew Broderick donned noise canceling headphones while shading herself with wrap around sunglasses.

It looked like she was prepared for a long day as she came equipped with a full backpack and messenger bag.

Sarah was also ready to sneak in some light reading, seen carrying the novel The Glass Kingdom by Lawrence Osborne.

Yesterday SATC fans rejoiced when they learned about three exciting new cast members to the mix.

Offering a much needed dose of diversity, HBO Max announced Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman and Sarita Choudhury will join OG cast members Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.

Sex And The City’s original six seasons and subsequent two movies have long-sparked criticism due to the lack of diversity in its largely-white cast as well as shocking storylines, including Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha – who will not be returning for the reboot – dating a black man and rowing with his sister over her race.

Leading the way in the new arrivals is Nicole, who has featured in such films as Black Dynamite and Remember The Titans as well as on shows like Time After Time, Empire and Chicago PD.

Her character is a fabulously wealthy woman called Lisa Todd Wexley who has three children and lives on Park Avenue, Entertainment Weekly reports. Park Avenue was also the location of the swank apartment owned by one of the four main characters Charlotte York played by Kristin.

Charlotte acquires the apartment on the original show through her divorce from Kyle MacLachlan’s sexually dysfunctional character Trey MacDougal in a bitter divorce settlement involving his mother Bunny.

Nicole was spotted on the set of the show on Tuesday, where she put on a glamorous display in a bold colourful ensemble paired with bright orange accessories while beaming and waving at passersby.

Meanwhile Karen has had recurring shows on TV programs ranging from Horace And Pete to The Americans to Yellowstone. She will be playing Columbia Law professor Dr. Nya Wallace – possibly with some connection to Cynthia’s character Miranda Hobbes, who is an attorney.

Sarita first rose to fame opposite Denzel Washington in the Mira Nair movie Mississippi Masala and has also worked with Spike Lee and M. Knight Shyamalan. Her character Seema Patel is a real estate broker based in Manhattan who brought herself up by her bootstraps.

The casting has been welcomed with open arms by fans, who praised the move on social media following show writer Michael Patrick King and lead lady and executive producer Sarah’s vow to create greater inclusivity.

Ahead of filming beginning, in February, HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys detailed how Sarah and Michael ‘didn’t want to tell a story with all-white writers or an all-white cast’.

He said: ‘It’s not reflective of New York. So they are being very, very conscious about understanding that New York has to reflect the way New York looks today.’

In 2018, Sarah referenced the diversity issue, saying: ‘You couldn’t make it today because of the lack of diversity on screen. I personally think it would feel bizarre.’

THE FASHION

Appropriation has been highlighted in retrospect regarding the show’s fashion, which is arguably the fifth main character on the show.

Earlier this year, Kayleigh Dray wrote for Stylist: ‘During the first and second seasons of the show, our wealthy cisgender heroines live and operate within an entirely white bubble.

‘In the third season that all changes, albeit not for the better.

‘For starters, Miranda – smart, liberal, awesome Miranda – charges us to follow the “white guy with a baby” as a way to locate an available apartment in a “nice” (aka super- gentrified) neighbourhood. Carrie waxes lyrical about “ghetto gold jewellery”.

The jewellery is not the only issue, as Samantha wore an afro wig following her cancer treatment.

Her styling, which she referenced to Foxy Brown, was blasted for appropriation among a plethora of other problematic moments.

SAMANTHA AND CHIVON

In Series Three’s No Ifs, Ands or Butts, begins dating Chivon, an African-American record executive.

His sister Adeena, played by Sundra Oakley, takes issue with her brother dating a white woman.

When speaking about Chivon, Samantha makes reference to his ‘big black c**k’ and slams Charlotte for having a ‘knee-jerk liberal reaction’ when Charlotte scolds her for using ‘black talk’ when discussing her latest conquest.

In 2018, Sundra spoke about starring in the episode and the storyline saying: ‘It’s like, oh man, why did it have to be that way? Why couldn’t it have been a different story?…

‘Samantha only slept with one black guy in the whole range of the show, in New York City? O.K., sure.’

In 2018, Vulture listed the episode as the lowest in a ranking of every episode of the show, writing: ‘On the one hand, this is the episode in which Carrie meets Aidan and goes on her first date with him.

‘On the other hand, it plummets in our ranking for its clumsy handling of Samantha dating a black man named Chivon. Clichés abound, most notably his overbearing sister, and, worse, the show’s dedication to themes ends up equating Samantha and Chivon’s insurmountable racial differences with Aidan’s wish that Carrie quit smoking and Charlotte’s date’s lack of kissing skill. Let’s just say none of this would fly in 2018.’

THE SECOND MOVIE

Sex And The City 2 saw the ladies jet to Abu Dhabi on a work trip, with a slew of culturally insensitive moments occuring during the trip – starting with ‘Magic carpet’ references on the plane.

Speaking about women wearing a niqab, Carrie makes the alarming statement: ‘I can’t get on board with the veil covering the mouth. It makes it feel like they don’t want them to have a voice’.

Later in the movie, Carrie flouts respecting local laws by flashing an ankle to get a taxi.

The movie caused widespread horror among critics due to the racially insensitive approach.

Smiling Bill Cosby is seen celebrating his 84th birthday as a free man

Smiling broadly and looking relaxed and healthy Bill Cosby paid tribute to his wife Camille as he marked his 84th birthday Monday, DailyMail.com can reveal.

In this exclusive picture of Cosby at home he can be seen celebrating his 84th birthday – a free man since his shock release from prison June 30th and his conviction for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand was vacated.

The actor who is planning a comeback tour told DailyMail.com, ‘I just got a fresh [hair]cut for this birthday dinner tonight.

‘In the words of James Brown, It’s a man’s world but it wouldn’t be nothing without…Mrs. Camille Cosby.’

DailyMail.com also spotted Camille for the first time since her husband was released from prison.

Looking youthful and happy, Camille was seen laughing at her New York City townhouse as she answered the door for a guest.

The sighting was the first time Camille had been seen in years.

She and house staff have been taking care of Bill since his release and have not left the luxurious building after Bill traveled from Pennsyvania to reunite with his wife.

Various food packages from wellness firm UNFI have been arriving while the pair are holed up. Camille was finally spotted when there were no staff to open the door to a guest Monday evening and she did it herself.

She was all smiles as the guest entered the home and stayed for at least three hours.

Bill hadn't seen his wife Camille since 2018 when he received the guilty verdict

Bill hadn’t seen his wife Camille since 2018 when he received the guilty verdict

Last week DailyMail.com revealed the details of Cosby’s first hours of freedom with exclusive images of him as he enjoyed his first meal of freedom – a slice of his favorite tomato, mozzarella and basil pizza, on the sofa of the Pennsylvania home he was last in close to three years ago.

He had not seen his wife of 57 years Camille, 77, since that day in 2018 when he left to receive the guilty verdict that ended his second trial and saw him sentenced to three to ten years in Pennsylvania’s SCI Phoenix.

In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, Cosby’s friend and spokesperson Andrew Wyatt shared the inside story of that release and the hours that followed.

He gave details of the actor and comedian’s reunion with his wife, told of Cosby’s time in prison, and revealed Cosby’s plans for his life on the outside.

According to Wyatt, Cosby’s first words upon getting into the car that would take him from SCI Phoenix to his home in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania were, ‘Andrew, is this a dream?’

Convicted on three counts of aggravated indecent assault, Cosby had not wanted his wife, or daughters, to see him as a prisoner.

Wyatt described their reunion as, ‘like watching teenage love.’ He said, ‘The way she touched him and said, ‘Billy.’ He said, ‘My dear Camille.’

News of the Supreme Court’s decision came on Wednesday June 30. Wyatt recalled that when he first got wind of it, he kept it to himself.

He said, ‘I didn’t tell anyone because it’s been a roller-coaster and so many people have come with information saying that he’s not going to be sentenced, he’s not going to be charged, he’s not going to be convicted…It’s emotionally and mentally draining.’

Wyatt wanted to be sure that it was true before breaking the news to Camille. When he did, she too struggled to wrap her mind around what she was being told.

He said, ‘I called Mrs. Cosby and said, ”You’re not going to believe this. They’ve vacated his entire conviction. They threw it out in perpetuity.” And she said, ”No, we need to check this.”’

At the time Camille was on her way from the family’s Massachusetts home to New York. Wyatt was already on the road to Pennsylvania and told her, ‘I’ll bring him to you.’

According to Wyatt, at that same moment Cosby was asleep in his cell, oblivious to it all.

Cosby told Wyatt he had been in a deep sleep when guards opened his door and told him, ‘Get up. You’re free.’

Wyatt said, ‘He said, ‘I heard all these inmates shouting, kicking the doors, shouting ‘Get outta here Bill, Uncle Bill, the Godfather.’

Cosby is completely blind having lost his sight to glaucoma many years ago and told Wyatt, ‘I thought it was a fight going on. I don’t know what’s happening.’

Later that night Cosby admitted to Wyatt that he didn’t want to go to sleep for fear that when he woke up, he would find that it was all a dream after all.

It is seven months since the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania heard Cosby’s appeal on two grounds: the admissibility of a damaging deposition given by Cosby in civil proceedings brought by Constand and the decision by trial judge Steven O’Neill to permit five other women testify to allegedly similar ‘prior bad acts’ at his second trial in 2018.

O’Neill had only permitted one other accuser to testify at the 2017 trial which ended in mistrial, and he never gave any reason for his change of heart second time round.

When Constand first reported the alleged assault in 2005 the then Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce Castor found her lacking in credibility. In the absence of any corroborating evidence, he concluded that a criminal prosecution would not succeed.

Castor issued a press release saying that the county would not bring criminal charges in a move intended to help Constand get ‘justice’ through a civil suit.

Without the spectre of criminal proceedings Cosby couldn’t plead the Fifth when deposed in an interrogation that took place over four days. In 2006 Constand received a civil settlement of $3.2million.

Last Wednesday, in an excoriating opinion, the Supreme Court described Castor’s successors’ – former DA Risa Ferman and current DA Kevin Steele – act of using Cosby’s civil depositions against him in a criminal trial, as a ‘bait and switch.’

The judges stated that the move had stripped Cosby of his Fifth Amendment rights twice over, harming him in the civil action and damning him in the criminal one.

They not only vacated his conviction but ensured that he would never again be prosecuted on charges relating to Constand.

Thwarted DA Steele has dismissed the Supreme Court decision as one based on, ‘a procedural issue that is irrelevant to the facts of the case.’

However, viewers of the HBO Max reboot learned the identity of Gossip Girl in the first episode.

The show’s eponymous blogger was revealed to be a group of the high school’s teachers, led by Kate Keller (Tavi Gevinson).

Early in the premiere, Kate accidentally bumps into the school’s Queen B Julien (Jordan Alexander) and is ridiculed by Julien and her clique. Kate then storms into the teacher’s lounge to vent about the entitled behavior of the spoiled students at Constance Billiard to her fellow teachers.

Upon hearing about Gossip Girl’s notorious blog from another teacher, Kate and several teachers begin scouring through the site that had exposed the juicy goings-on at the ritzy school and intimidated its past attendees.

Kate and some of the other teachers are inspired to revive Gossip Girl in order to hold sway over their rude and recalcitrant students and their indulgent parents.

After their initial attempts to recreate Gossip Girl as a Twitter account fail to take off, Kate and the teachers launch an Instagram page.

Kate and her colleagues begin spying on the students and posting photos of their sordid exploits. After the Gossip Girl account zeros in on the drama between Julien and her half-sister, Zola ( Whitney Peak), who is new to the school, the page’s popularity explodes.

The creator of the original series, Joshua Safran, who is serving as the showrunner for the reboot, discussed the decision-making behind the surprising twist during an interview with Variety.

He explained, ‘I have friends who work in the private schools of the Upper East Side and Upper West Side. And I went to one, obviously. I often thought since the first Gossip Girl ended that there was maybe a show in teachers at these rarefied schools, but I never landed on anything.

‘And then I was talking to my friends a couple of years ago, just about the small changes that they had noticed in the students’ parents in the years they were teaching there.

Safran went on to say, ‘I can’t remember whether I first knew that there would be teachers and a teacher would be Gossip Girl, or whether I knew first that I would know who Gossip Girl was and it would be a teacher.

‘The two were so neck-and-neck for me. I was also very interested in looking at roads we hadn’t explored the first time around, and teachers — that was a whole area. Especially private school teachers who are younger than public school teachers, who make less money than public school teachers, who come out of college and are not so removed from the age of the students that they’re teaching. All of that combined just felt like really fertile territory.’

He also addressed the potential ramifications that becoming Gossip Girl might have on the teachers. ‘It’s a be-careful-what-you-wish-for story,’ Safran said. ‘It’s a cautionary tale. We will be tracking not just what Gossip Girl does to the kids, but what being Gossip Girl does to them.

‘And it is incredibly messy and morally compromised, obviously.’
