Suffrage in the USA: In Atlanta, Biden fights against the beast – politics

It is tantamount to a political declaration of war: In a sharp speech, the US President accuses the Republicans of holding America’s democracy “with the dagger to the throat”. He also challenges two stubborn party friends.

Joe Biden was visiting the lion’s den. At least that’s how one of his advisors put it a few days ago, although the English phrase sounded a little more dramatic: the belly of the beast – the belly of the beast. The consultant had also said exactly where in the USA this cave, or this belly, is located, namely in Atlanta, Georgia. Biden then made it clear who the beast is in his speech he gave there on Tuesday afternoon: the Republicans who “hold the dagger to the throat” of democracy in America.
