Sudani Net:
Today, Sunday, March 12, the Sudanese ambassador to Moscow, Mohamed Siraj, announced that his country is willing to re-operate direct flights with Russia.
Siraj told the Russian agency, “Sputnik”, that “during the Soviet era, there were direct flights between the two countries.”
“Aeroflot used to operate flights to Sudan and also used Khartoum Airport as a starting point for other destinations,” he added.
He continued, “I hope that this issue will be reviewed and that direct flights between Russia and Sudan will be returned.”
He explained that this step would facilitate the movement of people and trade and positively affect bilateral relations.
It is noteworthy that since the middle of the twentieth century, there have been direct flights between the Soviet Union and Sudan, but they are currently suspended.
