Strong statement from the Embassy of Israel in Argentina for the case of the plane seized in Ezeiza

The suspicious plane is guarded at the Ezeiza Airport

The Embassy of Israel in Buenos Aires issued a harsh statement to express its concern for the case of the Iranian-Venezuelan plane seized at the Ezeiza Airport. In a statement dated this Thursday, he especially highlighted that the Boeing 747 of the Chavista state company Conviasa that arrived in the country last week was used by the Iranian company Mahan Air and transported “a group of Iranian officials, including a senior executive of the Persian airline Qeshm Fars Air”.

The phrase refers to Gholamreza Ghasemi Abbas, airplane pilot. Ghasemi Abbas, born on November 22, 1958, would be a shareholder and member of the board of directors and CEO of the airline Qeshm Fars Airused by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) to move arms and military equipment to Syria during the civil war in that country. His name also coincides with a former Iranian Revolutionary Guards officer of the same name.

The State of Israel is particularly concerned about the activity of the Iranian airlines Mahan Air and Qeshm Fars Air in Latin America, companies dedicated to arms trafficking and the transfer of people and equipment that operate for the Quds Force, which are sanctioned by the United States for being involved in terrorist activities”, assured the diplomatic delegation.

And I add: “Recent events show the sustained attempts of the Islamic Republic of Iran, through the Revolutionary Guards and the Quds Force, to continue consolidating its influence throughout the world, including in South America, as a base for terrorist actions on the continent. This situation is added to other operations registered in recent months, such as the attempted assassination of Israeli citizens in the city of Bogotá by criminals who worked for the Quds Force in Colombia.”.

The Embassy, currently in charge of Angry Ronenrecalled that Argentina was the victim of two terrorist attacks perpetrated by Iran (on the Israeli Embassy itself, in 1992, and on the AMIA headquarters in 1994) and raised the importance of maintaining a firm message so that Tehran does not try again act on Argentine soil or in any other country in the region. He also expressed his appreciation for “the rapid, effective and firm action of the Argentine security forces that identified in real time the potential threat” that the presence of the aircraft in Buenos Aires represented.

Currently, the Boeing acquired at the beginning of the years by Conviasa from Iran is immobilized at the Ezeiza International Airport, under the supervision of the Airport Security Police (PSA), in charge of Joseph Alexander Glinski . Yesterday it was inspected by order of the Federal Justice. His crew, 14 Venezuelans and 5 Iranians, are staying at a hotel in Canning, which was raided last Tuesday. Although their passports were seized by order of Judge Federico Villena, no movement restrictions were placed on them.

This Thursday, the government spokesperson, Gabriela Cerruti, tried to close the issue in his usual weekly press conference. He assured that the public administration carried out all the corresponding measures and assured: “The rest is part of the novel that each journalist or each medium wants to do.”
