ServiceThe recognition The Consul General of Japan in Milan awarded the memory of Stefano Carrer the Certificate of Merit, a “recognition dedicated to those who have significantly contributed to the promotion of mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and other countries” 9 March 2023 The Consul General of Japan in Milan Amamiya Yuji presents the Certificate of Merit to Giuliana Carrer, sister of Stefano, journalist of the Sole 24 Ore who passed away in May 2020 1′ of reading «I remember that, when events related to in Japan, Stefano Carrer always popped up suddenly taking pictures and shooting videos, and I couldn’t help but think: “but is he here too?”. And even today, when I attend events related to Japan, it seems to me that he must appear suddenly». With these words, not at all formal, the Consul General of Japan, Amamiya Yuji, wanted to underline the great professionalism and passion with which Stefano Carrer followed all aspects of the country. Not only the economy, not only the political events, but also the cultural life, the daily life of Japan were a source of interest for Stefano, an inspiration for articles, videos, interviews. Which then found space in the various sections of “his” Sole 24 Ore, for which he has worked since 1989. At his private residence, the Consul General thus wanted to confer the Certificate of Merit on Stefano’s memory, a «recognition dedicated to those who have made significant contributions to promoting mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and other countries.” The Certificate (soon visible on the Consulate General website) was handed over to his sister Giuliana, in the presence of Stefano’s mother, other family members and friends.
