Staff shortage is increasingly a problem for entrepreneurs in the industry | NOW

At the beginning of the third quarter, more than a third of entrepreneurs in the industry were faced with a staff shortage. It is the first time since 2012, that the share has been so high, Statistics Netherlands reported on Thursday.

The mood among entrepreneurs in the manufacturing industry improved somewhat in July. Companies in the industry have especially become more positive about their stocks of finished products. Their assessment of expected activity remained the same, while they were somewhat less positive about their order book than in June.

Producers from the electrical and machine industries were again the most positive. Entrepreneurs in the oil and chemical industry and the metal industry were also more positive than a month earlier. In the other sectors, entrepreneurs were less positive than in June.
