Sport Incarcerated since January 20, Daniel Alves remains in pre-trial detention in Spain, after being accused of rape by a woman in a Barcelona nightclub at the end of December.
The court dismissed the appeal presented by the defense due to a high risk of flight by the Brazilian, given the high sentence that could be imposed on him in this case. In a statement issued by the judicial authorities of Catalonia, the court explained that Alves’ financial means could allow him to leave Spain at any time to return to Brazil, from where he could not be extradited.
