so we can check that we already have it installed

Apple has released a new firmware update for AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max. Or, put another way, for all but the original AirPods. A firmware update that we don’t know the details of, but that most certainly deals with improve performance and function of our headphones.

Improvements, but no details about it

today’s update bears by version number the 4E71. Numerically it represents an important change, since the previous version was 4C165 (4C170 for AirPods 3). Only because of the change in the nomenclature, going from C to E, we can already expect changes, but the truth is that Apple has not given any details about it.

All our AirPods they update autonomously whenever they are near an iPhone or an iPad. To favor the update we can plug the headphones into the current, although it is not necessary.

We can check which version our AirPods have installed from our iPhone or iPad. First we connect the headphones to the devicethen the steps are as follows:

  1. We open the app Settings on our iPhone or iPad.
  2. We came in General.
  3. we touch on Information.
  4. we touch on AirPods.
  5. we seek Firmware Version.

It is clear that firmware updates do not enjoy the same visibility as iOS software updates, for example. They do not introduce new emoji, but it is clear that they polish the experience and improve the performance and operation of accessories. Certainly a welcome improvement.
