Snowflakes in Rome, evocative images from the city center

It had been announced and it has arrived. Snow flakes on the skies of the capital when between 4 and 5 on Wednesday 12 January, the rain turned into snow due to a very cold vortex of air coming from the Balkans.

The flakes first began to fall on the outer areas of the city then, beyond the Grande Raccordo Anulare, they reached the heart of the Eternal City, leaving a light white layer on the ground and on parked cars. More consistent snowfalls were seen above all outside the city and on the heights of the Castelli Romani, where the thickness of fresh snow reached 5 centimeters.

As indicated by 3BMeteo, however, this is a very rapid transition, so much so that during the day it was possible to witness a meteorological improvement. The Balkan cold core will now move to the lower Tyrrhenian.
