SNB applauded for surprise rate hike

No one would have bet on such a scenario. A few analysts believed that the Swiss National Bank (SNB) could raise its rate by 25 basis points, but most of them thought that it would wait until September to act. This is not the case. The institution announced Thursday morning a tightening of 50 basis points. Its key rate drops to -0.25.
