The Skdoda Superb can now be ordered with a new entry-level diesel. The two-liter diesel engine in the flagship of the Czech car manufacturer makes 122 hp.
As the carmaker announced at the German headquarters in Weiterstadt, the unit is available with an efficient seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The entry-level diesel replaces the previous 1.6-liter unit with 120 hp in both the sedan and the estate.
Depending on the body variant, the Euro 6d engine consumes an average of 4.0 to 4.3 liters. The 122 hp diesel costs from around 32,000 euros, in combination with the station wagon around 33,000 are due.
Basic equipment expanded
Skoda is also expanding the basic equipment of the Superb. The delivery includes a leather steering wheel, DAB + and the music system Swing. The optionally available infotainment systems are now based on the third generation of the modular infotainment system from the VW group and include a digital voice assistant.
Skoda has a trailer maneuvering assistant for the petrol and diesel variants. In addition, two assistance packages (Traveler and Traveler Plus) are now available, which include an adaptive distance assistant, traffic sign recognition, lane change and parking steering assistant. In models with a heated steering wheel, the systems can even detect when the driver is experiencing a medical emergency: during the journey, the assistance system checks whether he has touched the steering wheel at least every 15 seconds or whether he has lost control of the car. If there is no reaction to warning signals, the emergency assistant activates the hazard warning lights and brings the vehicle to a controlled stop.
Optional sound system for PHEV models
For the plug-in hybrid version of the Superb, the Czechs are also expanding the range of equipment with the optional Canton sound system. The manufacturer is now equipping the Sportline version of the flagship with a heated steering wheel as standard – versions with a direct-shift gearbox also have shift paddles. The trailer maneuvering assistant and the area view system with a 360-degree all-round view include the extended equipment of all Supberb with pure petrol or diesel engines. This makes parking and maneuvering easier.
The Superb starts in conjunction with the 1.5-liter TSI (110 kW / 150 PS) from around 28,500 euros, the station wagon costs almost 1,000 euros more. (AG / SP-X)
