Earlier this week, The Sims 4 He received a great free update which added curved walls, body hair, and new desires and fears. He also appears to have accidentally added incestuous relationships. Oh, and people are getting older a lot faster, too. It’s a weird time to be a Sim, that’s for sure.

According to detected by PC GamerOn , Reddit, and elsewhere, Sims 4 players are reporting that after the game’s July 26 update, some in-game characters are looking to date family members. A player shared a screenshot of an older woman suddenly wanted to start a romantic relationship with his own son. Another player shared a bug report with EA saying that one of his male sims wanted ask his twin sister to be his girlfriend. In that same support thread, an Xbox player shared a nasty example of a daughter wanting to date her father. Oh!

What’s going on here? Well, according to some gamers and modders from Sims 4, the likely problem is the new “I want” system, which was seen in the old Sims games. The system gives Sims the things they want to do and accomplish, giving players more goals to pursue. However, it appears that a bug in the system is creating “Wishes” that involve romantic relationships with anyone, including other family members. Once again, alas!

Fortunately, EA is aware of the bug. Yesterday, a developer on Twitter confirmed that the team is aware of the incest problem and is “looking to fix it as soon as possible.” EA also reconfirmed that it is working on a fix in a support thread about the error on the official site.

In addition to this less than ideal bug, another problem that some players encounter in Sims 4 after the last update it’s less dire and more existentially devastating.

Players report that characters age quickly. Some people have experienced Sims aging from small babies to older adults in a matter of minutes. As with the “family members who want to date” situation, EA is also aware of the problem and is working on a solution. In the meantime, the company suggests that players stick to the “Normal” lifespan option to avoid this aging bug.
