The stone now reads in gold letters ‘George VI 1895-1952’, ‘Elizabeth 1900-2002’, ‘Elizabeth II 1926-2022’ and ‘Philip 1921-2021’. The court has not yet released a new photo.
On Monday, Elizabeth was buried with her husband Philip, who died last year, in the crypt where her parents had already found their final resting place. The coffin of the Duke of Edinburgh has been in the nearby royal vault of St George’s Chapel since his burial. The King George VI Memorial Chapel also contains the ashes of Princess Margaret, Queen Elizabeth’s sister.
The chapel will open to visitors next week, on September 29.
