Now there’s a shopping spree in Switzerland too! For the first time, the Vox show “Shopping Queen” will be in Zurich. Nancy Holten (47), who once campaigned against cowbells, also wants to show her sense of fashion on Wednesday. Her participation almost failed. When the influencer was asked last summer, she initially said no. “I’m not the typical ‘Shopping Queen’ candidate. I don’t wear branded clothes, I don’t wear make-up and I don’t have gel nails,” explains Holten, who has over 71,000 subscribers on YouTube, in an interview with Blick.
That’s why she took part in the show after all. It’s a nice chance to inspire others. “I want to show that women are beautiful as they are natural,” she says. But Holten had one condition: “I only come with undyed hair and without gel nails.”
Vegan for 16 years
Said and done. With her companion Pirmin she went to the Shoppi Tivoli in Spreitbach AG. The motto: “Oldschool but cool – find the perfect look for your new bell-bottoms!” She was given 700 francs and four hours to find her outfit. Because Switzerland is so expensive, according to the favorite of the show, Guido Maria Kretschmer (57), the usual budget of 500 euros was increased.

This proved to be unnecessary with Holten. “I’ve proved that you can dress wonderfully on a small budget,” says the former “Farmer, single, looking for…” participant. At the end of the day, despite the tip, she still had 250 francs left over. She should have kept this, but she gave the rest of the amount to the hairdresser, who let her style herself. When putting together her look, it was particularly important to her that it was free of animal products. Holten has been vegan for 16 years.
Holten would no longer be on the show
The shoot was a wonderful experience and she had “a great chat”. When she met Kretschmer, she even got emotional: “When I saw Guido live, I cried.” She doesn’t mind that he allowed himself one or two comments at her expense during the show. “When you go public, you can’t take anything personally,” she says.
She does not regret her participation, which was already recorded in 2021, she is very happy – but she would not take part again. “Because I’ve changed. I’m not the same as last year, »said Holten. Their future is also characterized by change. The “Shopping Queen” candidate gave notice of her apartment at the end of the summer. She doesn’t have a new home yet. She could imagine living in a camper van or going abroad.
