A day after the 30-34 semi-final defeat by Barcelona, Bilyk scored four goals in the first 18 minutes of the second half as the German record champions recovered from a 14-18 deficit at the break and stayed close to the opposition. Eight minutes before the end, Kiel took the lead again for the first time since 12:11 (19 th ) with 31:30, Veszprem saved himself with a seven meter throw in the final second – an extension was not planned. There the Germans kept their nerves and finally won with 37:35.
In the final, defending champion and record winner Barcelona beat Vive Kielce from Poland 5:3 in the seven-meter throw. After overtime it was 32:32.
