The “Green Generation” strategy makes digitalization a battle horse for the successful modernization of the agricultural sector, said Friday in Meknes, the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohammad Sadiki.
Speaking at a press conference organized on the sidelines of the 15th edition of the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM), Mr. Sadiki highlighted the importance of digital technology in the growth of the agricultural sector. . And to highlight the role of startups as an important lever for the implementation of this strategy.
According to the Minister, the establishment of a pole dedicated to start-ups this year aims to encourage these companies and offer them financial and technical support. He assured that his Department is working to involve and encourage these start-ups, in particular through Regional Agricultural Plans (PAR).
Referring to the novelties of the Show this year, Mr. Sadiki pointed out that this 15th edition saw the participation of 15 countries and nearly 1,400 exhibitors, noting that the number of cooperatives exceeded 1,000.
And to continue that the 15th edition of SIAM saw the organization of several activities and conferences that focus on the “Green Generation” strategy and its importance for the achievement of food sovereignty.
These include a High Level Conference, organized by the Ministry under the theme “Green Generation: For Sustainable Food Sovereignty”, the 3rd Annual Ministerial Conference of the “AAA” (Adaptation of African Agriculture ), as well as the signing of 19 new-generation program contracts for the development and modernization of agricultural production sectors, with the main crop and animal production sectors.
Furthermore, the Minister noted the importance of the participation of other countries for Moroccan farmers and breeders, thus enabling them to benefit from their experiences, particularly in terms of technology.
Organized under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, SIAM, which continues until May 7, aims to be an unmissable event for discussing and discussing current events in the agricultural sector. For this year, the Show has the United Kingdom as its guest of honor, with the participation of several other countries from different continents.
