Grimsby Town unterliegt Brighton
Marcel Sabitzer with his debut goal and Bruno Fernandes twice saved Manchester United from being eliminated from the English FA Cup. In the 3-1 (0-1) quarter-finals against Premier League rivals FC Fulham, the Bayern loan made it 2-1 in the 77th minute on Sunday. The visitors took the lead in the 50th minute through Aleksandar Mitrović. After a red card against Fulham’s Willian (72nd), who thwarted a chance on the line with his hand, Fernandes (75th) equalized. Mitrovic pushed referee Chris Kavanagh after his team-mate was sent off and then had to go into the dressing room with a red card. United used the double advantage through Sabitzer and Fernandes (90+6).
First division club Brighton & Hove Albion lived up to their role as favorites and had no problems in the 5-0 (1-0) win over fourth division club Grimsby Town. The “Mariners” had made it to the last eight with five wins against higher-class teams. In the championship duel, Sheffield United beat Blackburn Rovers 3-2 (1-1). Former HSV professional Tommy Doyle scored the decisive goal in the first minute of added time.
