Russian biathlete Irina Kazakevich took part in the women’s relay at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing on the day of her father’s funeral. This was announced by the mother of the athlete Olga Kazakevich.
“I am very happy that my beloved daughter became the silver medalist of the Games. She dedicated this race to her dad, on Wednesday there was his funeral. It was hard for her, but she was able to cope”, — quotes the words of the woman “Match TV”.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian women’s biathlon team won silver medals in the relay at the Games.
In addition to Kazakevich, the national team was represented by Kristina Reztsova, Svetlana Mironova and Uliana Nigmatullina.
Due to the sanctions of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the Russian team performs under the name ROC (Russian Olympic Committee), and instead of the anthem at the awards ceremony, a fragment from the First Piano Concerto with Pyotr Tchaikovsky will sound.
