If fans rejoiced at the announcement of a Rocky spin-off on the Drago family, this is not the case for Sylvester Stallone, who violently attacked the producer of the saga.
On July 29, we learned that the MGM studio was going to start a spin-off of Rocky, centered on Ivan and Viktor Drago. The Italian Stallion’s memorable opponent in the 4th installment had reappeared in Creed 2 alongside his son, who had fought Rocky’s foal, Adonis (Michael B. Jordan).
Obviously, this news did not please Sylvester Stallone, hero of the saga, who flew into a rage following this announcement. The latter violently took producer Irwin Winkler, holder of the rights to the franchise, to task.
“Another heartbreak. I just found this out. Once again, Irwin Winkler, that pathetic 94-year-old producer [il a en réalité 91 ans] and his stupid vulture children Charles and David, gnaw to the marrow the carcass of a wonderful character that I created, without even telling me about it”he said in an Instagram post.
“I want to apologize to the fans. I never wanted Rocky’s characters to be exploited by these parasites”he hammered.
I never wanted Rocky’s characters to be exploited by these parasites.
Stallone then brought up Dolph Lundgren (Drago), blaming him for not telling him about this project beforehand. “Besides, there was a time when I had nothing but respect for Dolph, but he never let me know what was going on behind my back with this character I created for him. True friends are also precious than gold”he concluded.
But the legendary interpreter of Rocky did not stop there! He outbid in a second Instagram post, sharing in particular a snapshot of Irwin Winkler with vampire teeth, sucking the blood of the Italian Stallion.
“After Irwin Winkler and his family sucked Rocky’s blood out!”he commented, referring to the photos posted.
“Hollywood’s most hated, least talented, most decrepit producer and his cowardly children have found their next prey…Draco?”he continued.
“Since the dawn of time, so many artists from all industries, music, painting, literature, have been destroyed by these bloodsuckers who have destroyed so many families, lining their pockets with the work of other. Dolph, why? Not even a phone call!”he denounced.
Subsequently, Stallone will erase this last sentence concerning his ex-opponent in the ring. Dolph Lundgren also spoke about it on Instagram, trying to ease tensions.
“Just to clear things up about a Draco spin-off. There’s no approved script, no signed contracts, no director.
Besides, I really had the impression that my friend Sylvester Stallone was involved in this project, as a producer or an actor.he indicated, specifying that he did not think that it would be done without his agreement.
“There was a leak in the press last week which is unfortunate. I am in contact with Mr. Balboa so all the fans can relax”he reassured.
For years, Stallone has sought to reclaim the rights to Rocky, which he would like to pass on to his children. The comedian entered into a violent conflict with Irwin Winkler, who has owned the rights to the saga since a deal signed with the actor in the 1970s.
While waiting for this battle to find a resolution, Creed 3, the next film in the saga, will land in theaters in the first quarter of 2023 … without Sylvester Stallone.
