Rockstar removes “transphobic” content from next-gen version of GTA V – LGBT rights activists have previously asked for this

Rockstar Games removed from re-release Grand Theft Auto V for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 part of the content, who had previously been recognized by members of the community as being transphobic.

So, Reddit users noticed that the figurine Interstellar Transgender from the series “Captain Space Toy”, which previously hung in the hall with arcade machines, is now missing. In the old version, at the bottom of the box with the toy, you could see the plate “Interchangeable genitals”, while in the remaster this figure was removed, and others were rearranged so that the change was less noticeable.

Rockstar has also banned certain NPCs from spawning outside certain playable areas. For example, this affected the drag queens (men in a bright women’s outfit), who used to stand next to a crowd of LGBT people at the entrance to the Cockatoos nightclub.. Now they don’t show up.

The models themselves are still available in director mode, but without the ability to select lines, which presumably means that the main characters’ dialogue lines to these NPCs (about using hormones and so on) are also no longer used.

In 2021, a group of LGBT activists from the organization Out Making Games published an open letter to Rockstar Games asking the company to remove all transphobic content from the updated GTA V that has been in the game since its release in 2013. Rockstar did not comment, but apparently heeded the request.
