The Tangier plant, one of the pillars of Renault Group’s industrial base, will host the production of the Dacia Jogger vehicle from the second quarter of 2024. The announcement was made during a press conference held this Friday, March 17, in presence of Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Le Vot, Managing Director of the Dacia brand and Mohamed Bachiri, Managing Director of Renault Group Morocco.
This new project reinforces the group’s confidence in the national industrial platform and confirms the introduction of electrification technologies announced in June 2021 during the renewal of the agreements aimed at consolidating the Renault Group ecosystem in Morocco. While emphasizing Renault Group’s role as the locomotive of the automotive sector in Morocco, Minister Mezzour said on the occasion “Under the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the automotive industry has transformed into a a real lever of growth and industrial acceleration for the Kingdom, and today’s announcement marks a turning point in this development. The Tangier plant will be crowned with a new industrial project integrating for the first time in Morocco the manufacture of a hybrid model and thus contributing to the opening of the automotive ecosystem to new areas with high technological value and strong impact for Moroccan skills”. And to add that “this project reinforces the industrial ambition of the Kingdom to succeed in the transition to electrification and sustainable mobility and to position itself as the most competitive automotive hub on a global scale. »
Since its launch in March 2022 in Europe, Jogger has been Dacia’s first C-segment model and reinvents the concept of the affordable family vehicle. A real success, this versatile and robust model offering up to 7 seats, is available with petrol, LPG*, Diesel engines and for the first time in the Dacia range, with hybrid engines.
Jogger HYBRID 140 is characterized by technology that has been widely proven within the Renault Group thanks to the development of a true multimode hybrid engine and not just a simple electrified heat engine.
The manufacture of Jogger, and in particular the HYBRID 140 version, at the Tangier plant will be carried by line 2 of the industrial site, which will integrate a process specific to hybrid technology, with a production capacity of up to 120,000 vehicles per year. This industrialization will be accompanied by a robotization project adapted and supported by around thirty robots in the sheet metal and assembly departments.
A specific program will be put in place to support the upgrading of the skills of plant employees. Tangier teams will thus benefit from technical training in new areas of expertise such as hybrid technology and the electronics associated with this new technology. In total, nearly 6,000 hours of training will be given to 550 employees.
The launch of the production of the first hybrid vehicle on the chains of Tangier illustrates the attractiveness of the Moroccan industrial platform. This project, piloted by Moroccan teams of engineers, will give it a new strong competitive advantage.

Endowed with the best world standards and a symbol of carbon neutrality without discharge of industrial effluent, the Tangier plant has continued to evolve and consolidate its factory 4.0 status to make its industrial tool more technological and efficient. The Tangiers site is one of the pillars of the industrial strategy of Renault Group and the Dacia brand. In particular, it produces Dacia Sandero, the first vehicle sold to individuals in Europe since 2017.
