Remco Evenepoel saves his Tour de Suisse. The Belgian leader of the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl team won the closing time trial of the Tour de Suisse (8th stage) on Sunday June 19. A sigh of relief for the 22-year-old prodigy, who suffered in the Swiss passes the previous days. He was three seconds ahead of a certain Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers) who offers himself, with this performance, the final general classification. Third time went to Swiss Stefan Küng (Groupama-FDJ), eleven seconds behind the winner, who was betting big on this final meeting. However, he completed his national tour in fifth place.

At the end of this time trial in the capital of Lichtenstein, Vaduz, Sergio Higuita (Bora-Hansgrohe) could not resist against Geraint Thomas. The man in the yellow jersey set the 11th time and therefore finished 2nd in this Tour de Suisse. Third place went to Jakob Fuglsang (Israel-Premier Tech), who took ninth place in this time trial and lost 4 seconds to dislodge the Colombian from second place. First Frenchman, Thibaut Pinot, winner the day before, finished in 14th place overall.
