Real Madrid's final training before the cup final: Modrić fit, Mendy not

TrainingAll the players have traveled to Seville, but not all are taking part in the final training session ahead of the cup final: Ferland Mendy is absent as expected, but Luka Modrić is training – and seems fit to play.

Sport Modrić is training with the team again

The final of the Copa del Rey (Saturday, 10 p.m., im REAL TOTAL-Live ticker and TV) can come! Because the Royals are ready – on Friday evening they undertook the final training session in Seville’s Olympic Stadium “La Cartuja”. The big question in the third and last unit before the cup final was: Is it enough Luka Modric or not?

The good news: The 37-year-old Croatian, who is surprisingly in the squad, was able to train with the team again – so it’s actually possible to play. At the press conference, Carlo Ancelotti was not yet able to give any precise information on whether from the start: “Yesterday he trained very well and without any difficulties. Today he also trains with us and then we will decide together with him. If he’s fine, he’ll play, that’s for sure.”

Sport Mendy probably only back against ManCity

However, there was no positive news: Because Ferland Mendy didn’t work with the team for the first time, only individually instead. After a long injury break, the French left-back would not have been an option against CA Osasuna anyway – Mendy traveled more for team-building measures.

Because: Ancelotti took all the players with him. Logical, since almost all of the 24 professionals are ready for action – even Modrić, just not Mendy. The Frenchman could play in the first leg against Manchester City (Tuesday, 9 p.m.). But now Real Madrid’s focus is on the Spanish Cup – the 40th Merengues final and perhaps the 20th title.
