PS5 and PS3 versions not comparable according to developer

The remake of “The Last of Us” has caused a lot of discussion in recent weeks. Naughty Dog’s Senior Environment Texture Artist reiterated the criticism to confirm the differences between the PS3 and PS5 versions.

According to Jonathan Benainous, Senior Environment Texture Artist at Naughty Dog, The Last of Us remake’s gameplay is nothing like the original, which released in 2013 for the PS3.

He was responding to a Twitter user who claimed that The Last of Us Part remake wasn’t worth the price. The artist particularly emphasized that the players had not yet been able to experience the gameplay themselves.

“People complain about the gameplay while watching a video. But nobody actually held the controller in their hands.” so Benainous on Twitter. “I’ve played both and there’s no comparison between the PS3 and PS5.”

Benainous also addressed the prone function, which will not be included in the remake, so players will not be able to switch to the prone position. “Prone would have just broken the gameplay and combat space because it wasn’t originally built that way,” it says.

Gameplay video with game impressions

The new version of The Last of Us is a major remake of the original game, with gameplay and graphics overhaul to bring it in line with The Last of Us Part 2.

Few days ago released a slightly longer video for the remake, which introduces some of the features. Before leaked outthat there will be no way to lay down, crawl or dodge.

In a separate tweet, the Senior Environment Texture Artist emphasized that it was difficult to see the gameplay leaks before Naughty Dog was ready to show the game. This applies above all to the material “in low resolution, with a screwed up color correction and without HDR”. Since the gameplay was put online by external sources, Naughty Dog quickly followed up with the extended Deep Dive.
