The Triumphal Procession of Braga Romana took place yesterday, a much-anticipated return after two years of a pandemic. Music, dance, theater, force, divinities and the “imperial power” itself cross the city where spectators are invited to participate by throwing flower petals as they pass, in a path perfumed by incense.

“If during the Roman Republic triumphs ennobled the generals, with the birth of the empire they were dedicated to the emperor! But, in Bracara Augusta, Brácaros and Bracaraugustanos unite, summoning the peoples of Gallaecia, to together crown with a golden laurel, the one that triumphs under the watchful eye of the Empire, the opulent City, Bracara Augusta itself”, reads. in the Braga Romana program.
The march traveled along Avenida Central; Largo Barão S. Martinho; Castle Street; Rua dos Capelistas; Dr Street Justino Cruz; Souto Street; Misericórdia Street and Municipal Square.
