the essential The bishop of Toulouse, Mgr Guy de Kérimel, has just ordered a canonical investigation against a priest of the community of the Beatitudes of Blagnac for alleged acts of sexual touching, committed in an abbey in the Vosges, between 1994 and 2001.

Shaken by repeated scandals of sexual violence in recent years, the Church continues to treat its ills. The bishop of Toulouse, Mgr Guy de Kérimel (successor of Mgr Le Gall) has just ordered a canonical investigation against a priest, number 2 of the community of the Beatitudes, widely represented in Blagnac, in Haute-Garonne .

This 56-year-old man of faith practiced in the abbey of Autrey, in the Vosges, between 1994 and 2001. According to a newly collected testimony as part of a report published in The Weekly Cross, acts of touching were denounced by at least one alleged victim. These would include fondling the hair and nipples and a kiss on the mouth on a minor.

Caresses and kisses

On two occasions, the justice system did not follow up on reports of sexual touching. “A first investigation by the Parquet d’Épinal in against this priest ended with a dismissal order in 2004. A second investigation led to a dismissal in early summer 2010″, recalls the community of the Beatitudes to justify the presence of this man, within it, and his appointment, in 2015, as assistant to the president sister Anna Katharina.

But the new testimonies published by The cross encourage, today, the Bishop of Toulouse, referent of the Beatitudes, to initiate a process of total transparency in relation to these accusations.

In canon law, a kiss on the mouth can constitutesr a reprehensible fact that goes far beyond the framework of spiritual accompaniment. That investigation aims to clarify the reality of these accusations by hearing the main protagonists. It is led by a priest accompanied by an ecclesiastical notary.

If the facts are true, investigation can lead to a canonical process. For the time being, this priest benefits from the presumption of innocence. For the past eight days, he has himself withdrawn from his post of general assistant to the presidency, without leaving the monastery of Blagnac where the members of the general council of this religious community reside.

“Waiting for the outcome of this [l’enquête]and without prejudging any opinion, the father withdrew from his responsibilities in the government of the Community [des Béatitudes]“, specifies the press release of the community of the Beatitudes, published this Tuesday, January 24. For 10 years, the priest was notably in charge of the administrative management of the files.
