Xóchitl Gálvez said that she was “categorically opposed” to any pressure for Beatriz Paredes to decline in her favor in the process to define the presidential candidacy of the opposition front.
“When I found out on Monday that there was pressure on Beatriz for her to decline, the president himself mentioned it in the morning, I found it unacceptable for her and for me; I said ‘let’s go to the election on Sunday’”.
Gálvez said that he believes Beatriz Paredes when she says that she did not negotiate any candidacy in this process and reiterated that she has not participated in any arrangement.
She praised Paredes and closed the possibility that she was pressured to decline:
“Beatriz decided for herself, she is a badass, she is an independent woman.”
In interview for Aristegui livemaintained that its objective was to finish the process as it had been designed, so that the winner would be announced only after the consultation and direct survey of the citizen base.
He affirmed that the retirement of Beatriz Paredes was a decision of the PRI: “it does not depend on me.”
Throughout the interview, she reiterated that she does not owe her place to the parties or their leaders, but to the citizens who have supported her since the president closed the door of the National Palace on her.
He turned to President López Obrador that he was appointed by the oligarchy, stating that the president must dedicate himself to governing, in addition to not speaking about alleged irregularities in the Morena process, such as the “charge” in favor of Claudia Sheinbaum and Marcelo’s complaints ebrard.
He considered that the Morena process will end in ‘trancazos’, although the President does not want to talk about it.
He maintained that the President “would like” that the Citizen Movement go alone in 2024. He said that she has identification and closeness with leaders and the agenda of the orange party.
