The black Austro satire “Poppitz” is one of the numerous joint film projects of the comedy specialists Roland Düringer and Harald Sicheritz. The duo is jointly responsible for the screenplay for this Austrian cinema film from 2002, which the ORF co-financed as part of the film/television agreement. Under Sicherheititz’ direction, Düringer also plays the main role of the sly author salesman Gerry, who, in addition to a real professional crisis – his job is threatened by a certain “Poppitz” – also has to survive a disaster vacation in an all-inclusive hotel. During the horror scenario, which is as funny as it is action-packed, there is one question above all: Who the fuck is Poppitz? Marie Bäumer can be seen as Gerry’s wife. Nora Heschl plays the part of the pubescent daughter. With Alfred Dorfer, Reinhard Nowak, Eva Billisich, Wolfgang Pissecker and Andrea Händler, other high-ranking representatives of the Austrian cabaret scene stood in front of Helmut Pirnat’s camera for “Poppitz”.
