2016 World Cup bronze medalist Anna Pogorilaya shared her opinion on the free program of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva.
The production is dedicated to the doping scandal surrounding Valieva at the 2022 Olympic Games.
– What are your impressions of test skates? Who is the most memorable?
– Of course I remember Kamila Valieva. I liked the greenhouses: both Tarasova/Morozov and young couples are very promising. Unfortunately, two of our main couples were not in the dances, but it was still interesting to watch the youth. Of course, it is immediately clear that in women’s singles there were fewer quadruplets. I don’t know if it’s for better or worse, but it was more interesting for me to watch their shows.
– Which women’s programs did you like at the test skate?
– Surprisingly, I really liked Liza Tuktamysheva – her short program. Of course, Kamila Valieva’s free program, because it touches the soul, immediately brought back memories of the Olympics. Maybe that’s what immediately comes to mind.
I think that if Camila didn’t want to bring up this topic, she wouldn’t have skated it. I think Camila is a very strong person in this regard. Few could survive this and not finish the sport, and she also showed this program and poked everyone in the face: “That’s what you did to me.” She is a very strong athlete, a strong person, although she is a very young girl,” said Pogorilaya.
“In the international season, this program would not exist.” Are there hidden meanings in Valieva’s number and can it be changed?
Number provocation from Valieva: she played the Olympic doping drama, covered herself with a hood (like in Beijing) and cried
