MOSCOW, January 12. / TASS /. Fraudsters have come up with a new scheme to deceive bank customers by telephone using voice robots. This was reported by the press service of the Moscow State Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
“Attackers have come up with a new scheme of deception. Now, using voice robots, they call bank customers and, having gained confidence, entice information that allows them to make transactions in the customer’s online bank,” the press service said.
The headquarters explained that fraudsters, using a banking robot-assistant, report that suspicious transactions are allegedly being carried out in their personal account. For example, we can talk about transferring money, applying for a loan and changing the phone number associated with your personal account.
“Further, in the tone mode, they ask to confirm the operations. In case of refusal, a connection is made with a pseudo-employee of the bank’s security service, who in a conversation tries to get all the subscriber’s data,” the police said.
Police officers, in connection with the new fraud scheme, warn that bank employees and their robotic assistants do not call citizens, and the police do not ask them to participate in a special operation. They also reminded that if you become a victim of telephone scams, you must immediately report the incident to the police.
