In general terms, the project mixes biotechnology, artificial intelligence, a startup Portuguese, the most common and most aggressive brain tumor (glioblastoma multiforme) and also a special ingredient based on a natural compound of pepper. The first steps of the TargTex project showed that a formula based on piperlongumine, a natural compound found in some specific South Asian pepper plants, can help eliminate a brain tumor and, who knows, other types of cancer. After the good results of this innovative treatment in animal models, the researchers want to move forward with clinical trials in 2023.
