The Austrian oil and gas group OMV sells its gas station business in Slovenia to the Hungarian MOL group. OMV announced yesterday that the contract with MOL for the sale of OMV Slovenia has already been signed.
The agreed purchase price for the entire gas station business in Slovenia is EUR 301 million. The closing is expected in 2022, subject to the required regulatory approvals.
OMV had so far had a 20 percent market share in Slovenia
The sale includes 120 filling stations and the OMV customer business in Slovenia, announced OMV. The Hungarian group has already held a 7.75 percent stake in the Slovenian OMV subsidiary, the rest is owned by OMV. MOL currently operates 53 petrol stations in Slovenia, reported the STA news agency.
With a market share of around 20 percent, OMV is the second largest petrol station operator in Slovenia behind the market leader Petrol (around 56 percent). The Hungarian MOL is in third place with almost ten percent, as reported by the business newspaper “Finance”.
