After returning to face-to-face classes this school year, the lifting of the mask requirement at the seat is the next important step in normal school life, according to Education Minister Karin Prien (CDU).
It is mandatory to wear a mask on walking paths in school
If an infection occurs in a study group, the rest of the group is again required to wear a mask and a daily test for five days. That sets the State government in its regulations. Otherwise, the test strategy, hygiene concept and mask requirement remain on the walkways within the school.
State student council welcomes the end of the mask requirement
According to the state government, an important reason for the decision to leave the mask off the seat is that children could meet outside of school without a mask. Often the circle of contact persons is therefore identical to the school class. From the point of view of the state student councils, the lifting of the mask requirement at one’s own seat is a significant improvement in everyday school life. Other measures, such as regular testing options, should continue to be maintained or expanded, said Max Daubner from the regional student council of the grammar schools. The state representatives of the pupils of the community schools also consider it an indispensable step to drop the mask requirement in the classroom. The deputy spokesman Maximilian Henningsen said that to a large extent the student body was looking forward to the fall of the mask requirement.
Also skepticism among students
But there is also skepticism about the easing. At the Lessing-Gymnasium Norderstedt, our NDR reporter also met students who preferred to keep their masks on on Monday at the square. In view of the increasing corona incidences, it seemed safer to them, according to the reporter. Most of the high school students would have been happy about it and would have liked to take off the mask on site.
