The official announcement by Fable at the end of the Xbox Games Showcase left (of course) tons of questions open and shortly afterwards rumors of online elements in the role-playing game spread – in some cases there was talk of an MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online Game), then again from “MMO-lite”.
While Microsoft or Playground Games did not make a statement as a developer, at least the “toilet seat”, which is usually well-informed in the Microsoft context, spoke up. The industry insider made it clear that Fable is primarily an action role-playing game in an open game world. Rumors of an MMO are nonsense, although there might be online interactions like Forza Horizon 4 (Shard World concept).
Fable is an open-world Action-RPG. People really need to stop with this MMO nonsense. Even if there potentially will be online interactions similar to FH4, it’s not an MMO.

Microsoft: “Fable on Xbox Series X heralds a new chapter in the legendary Fable saga. Explore a land full of mystical creatures and mystical locations. Playground Games is developing this fantastic adventure for Xbox Series X, Windows 10 PC and of course Fable will also appear right at the start in Xbox Game Pass. “
