Judoka Tornike Tsjakadoea failed to win a medal at the European Championships on Friday. In the quarterfinals, the Dutchman had to recognize his superiority in Lukhumi Chkhvimiani from Georgia and he also failed to win in the rematch.
Due to the defeat against Chkhvimiani, Chakadua was sentenced to the rematch, in which bronze was the highest attainable. But against Balabay Aghajev (Azerbaijan) he was out on ippon, the highest score in judo.
Tsjakadoea came out of the fight in the first round and eighth finals as the winner. Against respectively Rodrigo Lopes (Portugal) and Daniel Leutgeb (Austria) he won on waza-ari.
The Dutch women have already been eliminated on the first day of the European Judo Championship in Sofia. Amber Gersjes (up to 48 kilograms) and Pleuni Cornelisse (up to 57 kilograms) immediately lost their first match.
