Nikon puts an end to SLR cameras: end of an era

A new mirrorless system allows the legendary manufacturer to produce smaller devices with new features. However, Nikon missed the start of the digital camera era, from which rivals Sony and Canon benefited.

Nikon is a pioneer of SLR cameras. Since 1959, the Japanese manufacturer has been part of the revolution in photography, which has brought Japan’s camera brands world market leadership to this day. The group is now ending this era. Nikon confirmed what many had expected: the company is stopping developing new SLR cameras.
