News – Grégory Hofmann quits NHL, returns to Zug

NHL / National League

Columbus – EV train

Grégory Hofmann has arguably given up (at least immediately) his NHL dreams. Suspended by Columbus for not returning from a “leave” granted for personal reasons, the 29-year-old forward was in fact in Switzerland during the holidays, his wife awaiting a happy event.

For these family reasons, he decided to give up the NHL, the league in which he started last summer, and asked the Columbus Blue Jackets, for whom he played 24 times this season and collected 7 points (2 goals , 5 assists), to terminate his contract.

As soon as all the regulatory formalities for transfer to NHL are completed, Hofmann will be able to resume his contract with EVZ, which still runs until 2023. With Zug, the 182 cm and 79 kg winger has played 99 games in two seasons so far, scoring 48 goals and 54 assists.

The return of Grégory Hofmann also means for the EVZ that from his first match, only four imported players can be used and that a foreigner will therefore be supernumerary at each meeting.
