Recent spy shots allow us to measure a little better the stylistic developments that the BMW X1 will benefit from in the coming months, when it is unveiled. Starting with its grille that will stretch profusely upwards, surrounded by new optics that dominate new shields.

For its part, the soft top will overflow more at the sides which will be smoother at the level of the doors equipped with flush handles, in order to improve aerodynamics. If the glass surfaces appear to be inherited from the current generation, the bow will attract new slender lights, in the spirit of those recently sported by the Serie 2 Active Tourer. At the top of that of the new X1 there will be a large curved multimedia screen, as introduced by the 100% electric SUV iX.

Until now, only his older sister BMW X2 it prided itself on being powered by sports engines. But the future X1 will also enjoy lively mechanics, under the name of M35i, to exceed 300hp, when the current model peaks at 231hp. The 4-cylinder 2.0 l turbo petrol with 306 HP pulled up under the bonnet will therefore be able to tease the Mercedes-AMG GLA of equivalent power.

To reduce its CO2 emissions, however, it will be necessary turn to one of the new rechargeable hybrid versions, possibly inherited from the new Active Tourer. In this case, the X1 will combine a choice of 244hp or 325hp, with the ability to travel up to 80km in 100% electric mode.

If it’s still too early to advance on the iX1’s spec sheet content, devoid of any fossil fuel engines, we already know that the petrol and diesel blocks will convert to micro-hybridization.

Standard features include radio, air conditioning, alloy wheels, emergency braking, light sensor, rain sensor, adaptive speed control, side airbags, head airbag, bluetooth, automatic parking, rear electric windows, height-adjustable driver’s seat, electric front windows, front seats armrest, electric mirrors, external temperature indicator, Dab radio, head-up display. The main options include automatic transmission, metallic paint, fine interiors, satellite navigator, LED headlights, adaptive headlights, parking sensors, cruise control, alarm, fog lights, sunroof.

According to some rumors, the new was unveiled in the summer of 2022 BMW X1 it is expected to start its commercial career by the end of the year, at an estimated base price of around € 30,000. A few months later, a new generation of BMW X2, more dynamic at heart, will follow suit.
