Neverwinter: Jewel of the North expansion brings Bard class into play

Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios announce that Neverwinter’s next big expansion, Jewel of the North, is coming to PC on July 27th and PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Fall 2021. Neverwinter is returning to the roots of Dungeons & Dragons and introducing the popular, versatile Bard class into the game. There are also numerous comfort improvements, including a new level-up system that will make it easier for players to experience the many adventures that the free-to-play action MMORPG has to offer in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.

“With Jewel of the North, we want to make it easier than ever for players to create a character and embark on the adventure of the Forgotten Realms,” said Matt Powers, Executive Producer of Neverwinter. “The level up has been optimized and now corresponds more to the tabletop Dungeons & Dragons. We’re also really excited to have the extroverted Bard class perform in Neverwinter. “

Neverwinter: Jewel of the North brings the stylish bard class to the stage, based on the popular 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons. Players who choose a bard become daring heroes who can weave magic into their blades, inspire allies with music, manipulate minds, and even heal wounds. Players can choose between two unique role model paths for the class. As model paths, there are the blade-swinging song blades, which cause damage in close combat, and the maestro, the minstrel, who specializes in long-range combat.

In addition to the new class, Neverwinter: Jewel of the North is one of the first expansions since the MMORPG was released eight years ago in June 2013, which changes access to all Neverwinter game content for players. One major change is the new streamlined level-up system based on the Dungeons & Dragons system. The maximum level in Neverwinter will be changed from level 80 to 20. With this change, new and returning players will be able to access the epic content in as little as 10-12 hours. The veterans, in turn, can quickly level up their second characters and will find more players with whom they can form a group for challenging quests. Players who have already reached half of the previous levels will be brought straight to level 20. For all characters who are at the current maximum level, the values and item powers remain unchanged, only the character level is changed to 20. All existing players can claim a new equipment package from the reward agent. In addition to the new level-up system, Jewel of the North will also bring comfort improvements, for example an improvement in the game entry, a revision of the tutorial in the game and a new adventure system.

Neverwinter is a free-to-play action MMORPG with dynamic battles and epic dungeons. Players explore the sprawling city of Neverwinter and the surrounding countryside, learning the vivid history of this famous metropolis from the Forgotten Realms while defending it from countless enemies. Neverwinter is currently available for free on PC, digitally on Xbox One with a Gold Membership * from the Xbox Games Store, and on PlayStation 4 (PlayStation Plus not required).

* Xbox Live Gold membership (sold separately) required on Xbox.

Youngest member of the editorial team. He’s been playing since the Gameboy Advance…. (As I said, by far the youngest). It really started with the PlayStation2, but then stayed true to the brand.
