National League: Nummelin appointed assistant coach at Ajoie –

Petteri Nummelin is back in Switzerland. The former Davos and Lugano star defender has been appointed assistant to new Ajoie coach Filip Pesan.

The 49-year-old Finn signed up for two seasons. “From the first discussions with Julien Vauclair (note: the sports director)which I know well, the HCA project convinced me“, Nummelin explained in a statement from the club.”I also had the opportunity to chat with the new head coach Filip Pesan, with whom the current went very well. I look forward to starting this new chapter with HC Ajoie“.

Nummelin’s experience will be a real asset to our team.

During his playing career, he had played thirteen seasons at the highest level in Switzerland. The former defender has 622 points in 568 National League appearances. In Finnish selection, he notably won a title at the 1995 world championship in Stockholm and silver at the 2006 Olympics in Turin with the Finnish national team.
