Customers had problems with mobile calling and the use of mobile internet. The outage started around 8 a.m. Tuesday. By 11 a.m., the outage was partially resolved, but not completely, the company said. Hollandsnieuwe, a subsidiary of VodafoneZiggo, also suffered from the problems.
Mobile calls and internet via 2G did work during the outage. According to a spokeswoman, this connection does not make the phone automatically if the regular connection is lost. Customers had to manually adjust this on their device.
As a result of the outage, several authorities were not or barely available by telephone. The disruption affected municipalities, GGDs and hospitals, among others.
According to Vodafone, there was a malfunction in two of the six databases. Those two databases had to be rebuilt, which took some time. The company regrets that customers were affected by the outage.
