Nashville SC want to do better against CF Montreal

CF Montreal’s next opponent, Nashville SC did not get the victorious start they wanted to their home opener last Saturday, but they showed great things nonetheless.

By establishing a new team mark for shots on goal, the Tennessee team has certainly affirmed its desire to impose its rhythm.

During FC Cincinnati’s passage at Nissan Stadium, Nashville fired no less than 32 shots in the direction of the opposing net. Thirteen of them were on target. Despite its dominance in terms of shots and possession time – 58% against 42% for FC Cincinnati – the home team had to settle for a draw of 2 to 2.

The visitors hit the target twice in the first 12 minutes of play, but Jhonder Cadiz and Randall Leal helped the hosts close the gap and collect a point in that opening match.

“We all want to start the season with a win,” said head coach Gary Smith in an interview posted on the team’s official website. We were at home and it was a good way to start. But there are a lot of things we needed to understand from our training in this first game. The guys had an incredible attitude to come back after such a difficult start to the game. I think it was really two great goals. We had a bunch of opportunities that would have allowed us to win. ”

Handwalla Bwana was one of those who came close to making a difference late in the game, but he ran into Przemyslaw Tyton.

“We also have to give credit to their goalkeeper. What match he had and what save he made [à ses dépens]. It’s sad, but it’s part of the game. Sometimes the little things are the hardest. We have to learn from that, move on and hopefully do better in the next game, ”Bwana said.

Against CF Montreal, which will in turn land at Nissan Stadium on Saturday, Nashville will actually want to build on the lessons learned against Cincinnati. This will only be a second clash between the two teams. Nashville had won 1-0 last October, in the first duel.
