Municipal council against renovation: Neckarsulm’s adventure pool closes Regional

Neckarsulm The days of the “Aquatoll” leisure pool in Neckarsulm (Heilbronn district) are numbered for now.

According to the city in the district of Heilbronn, the municipal council has decided not to renovate or modernize the adventure pool on its own due to the expected costs.

The sauna and leisure area will open for the last time on May 15, a city spokesman said on Friday. When the municipal council voted on Thursday evening, only 2 of the 27 city councilors were against the end of the “Aquatoll”, one abstained.

However, the city wants to start looking for a private investor for the ailing fun pool with its slides and whirlpool. Discussions are already being held. However, the technology in the bathroom is considered outdated, and the number of visitors has fallen significantly.

The “Aquatoll” was opened in 1990 as one of the most modern leisure and adventure pools in Germany at the time.

Four years ago, the municipal council finally decided to keep the pool completely and to renovate it in sections – not so much for business reasons, but to “maintain the existing pools and saunas for the Neckarsulm population and the citizens of the region”. the city had announced at the time.
