Mathias Flückiger celebrated the first success of his career in short track. The Bernese won in Leogang during the 3rd stage of the World Cup.

In the absence of Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel – unbeaten in this format in 3 years – Flückiger won with 5 seconds ahead of Czech Ondrej Ciink and 16 over Dutchman Milan Vader.

Neff on the podium

Nino Schurter did not shine in the Austrian station. Le Grison could not do better than 29th and was only the 5th best Swiss.

In the ladies’ category, Jolanda Neff finished 3rd behind the French Loana Lecomte and the Australian Rebecca McConnell. The Saint-Galloise is thus assured of having a good starting position for the cross-country on Sunday.
