More expensive loans: Banks benefit from the rise in interest rates – Finanzen & Börse

By raising interest rates by half a percentage point last week, the European Central Bank (ECB) drew a line under the zero-interest phase in the euro zone after six years. It is likely to be only the first of several steps that should keep interest rates at a higher level until 2026. “For Austrian banks, rising interest rates are fundamentally positive for private customer business,” says Achim Kaucic from the Boston Consulting Group.
