Moderna fires manager Jorge Gomez: $700,000 for two days of work

That’s a nice hourly wage…

The US vaccine manufacturer Moderna fired its chief financial officer Jorge Gomez after just two days. The reason: internal investigations into financial reports at his ex-employer. That’s what Moderna announced.

Crazy: Gomez, who started the job on Monday and left it on Wednesday, still collects a salary of $700,000. That corresponds to almost 675,000 euros! According to a stock exchange announcement, Gomez is waiving his signing bonus and bonus claims.

Jorge Gomez came from Dentsply Sirona, a manufacturer of dental products. Moderna had signed the manager in April to replace David Meline, who was actually planning to retire. But nothing will come of it now. Meline is scheduled to continue for now while the company searches for a new chief financial officer.

Moderna shares had meanwhile plummeted significantly in US trading.
