The GTA Trilogy is an absolute disaster at launch. Of course Rockstar would like to improve the state of the games, but modders are much faster and are already making texture packs available.

The modding community continues to pick up and re-glue the pieces left by the launch of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. While the developers at Rockstar are still planning patches and updates, the first mods for the collection are already available online. Including three texture packages that primarily improve the streets, but also other surfaces of all three parts.

New textures for the GTA Trilogy

The first two downloads are from Insanity 666. On Nexusmods you can download the files that primarily pimp the street textures of GTA 3 and GTA: Vice City. You can find the downloads here and here. Here is an example from Vice City:

The third mod comes from Qtmodz and goes a little further. In addition to the roads, the sky and nature from GTA: San Andreas have also been reworked here. In addition, the filters, the lighting and the resolution of the shadows have been improved. You can find this modification here. And another picture with new textures:

Also worth reading:

A mod has been available for a few days that deals with the unspeakable rain in the GTA trilogy. In the vanilla version of the remaster, this is so dense that you can barely see what is going on on the screen. Thanks to the mod “GTA Trilogy Rain Fix” this is no longer a problem, at least on the PC.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is available for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. A version for iOS and Android is also in development.
